What is a Urinary Tube?

What is a Urinary Tube?

An Indwelling urinary catheter (IDC) is more commonly known as a urinary tube. IDC is used for patients with urinary incontinence (leakage), urinary retention (unable to urinate), or trauma/injury that affects one’s control over urination.

By engaging our house doctors, trained nurses or healthcare assistants in Singapore, you can get all the procedures done at home.

How does an IDC work?

The urinary catheter is a hollow, flexible tube that is inserted via the urethra into the bladder to drain out urine. A small balloon is also inflated in the bladder to keep the catheter in place. The other end of the catheter tube leads to a urine bag that is meant to collect the urine.

Our experienced, certified, and trained nurses will be deployed in the shortest time possible to change an IDC at home with the utmost care and professionalism.

How can our nurses help?
